Industry Night

Last night at Brightspace Gallery where my exhibition hangs my Tafe organised nine guests relevant to the illustration industry to come and have a chat to us.
It was sort of like speed dating but with an uneven ratio of 22 people all wanting to meet 9 people.
I was lucky enough to meet seven of the nine! Our guests were:

Angie Rehe: Freelance fashion illustrator.

Paul Collins: Publisher at Ford Street Publishing, Melbourne

Katrina Lehman: Senior editor at Penguin Books, Australia.
Claire Collins: Art licenser at Editions International.
Marc McBride: Illustrator behind the Deltora Quest series.
Robin Cowcher: Illustrator for The Age newspaper, Australia.

Eddie Chau: Freelance storyboard artist and visualiser.

Barbara Kitaledis: Freelance and Permanent Placement - Pearl Creative Consultants

Douglas Holgate: Freelance illustrator and cartoonist.

Such a great night! I got loads of feedback on how to tweak and improve my folio, lots of encouragement, compliments, advice and recommendations on where I should take my art. Everyone’s telling me I need to visit publishers - apparently my art is ready and very marketable. Time to hit the streets, send emails, apply everywhere and see what happens!

YOLO!
